City of San Antonio Bridge Rehabilitation Program

Citywide Bridge Rehabilitation Program consisted of Evans Rd Bridge, Market Street Bridge, Losoya Street Bridge, and Roland Road Bridge.

Losoya Bridge, Market Street Bridge, and Roland Rd Bridge are 100 + year-old historic bridges.  

Market Street Bridge repairs were performed over night after River Walk Barge service closed. 

Roland Bridge overhead spall repairs were performed over Union Pacific railroad tracks, and in between Union Pacific Train schedules.

Project delivered on time 03/2020. Union Pacific was not delayed, zero infractions, fines, or environmental penalties.  

Existing Evans Road Bridge

Traffic Rail Type T551 was saw cut flush to the bridge deck for removal.

Evans Road Traffic Rail Type T551 Retrofit

Cast-in-place method was used to replace the T551 rail.

Vertical, and overhead minor and intermediate spall repairs using epoxy injection were performed throughout the bridge.

Roland Road Existing Decorative Rail

Existing 100 + year-old rail was saw cut flush to the bridge deck for removal. 

Roland Road Traffic Rail Type T402 Retrofit Anchor Bars

Wingwall #6 Anchor bars epoxy anchored and secondary #4 anchor bars epoxy anchored on the bridge deck of the original wingwalls.

 

Roland Road Traffic Rail Type T402 Retrofit Street Side

Traffic Rail Type T402 Retrofit cast-in-place.

Overhead, and vertical minor, and intermediate spall repairs with epoxy injection were performed throughout the bridge.

Roland Road Traffic Rail Type T402 Retrofit Outside Edge

Type T402 rail adjusted to fit with inch inch lip outside rail. Major spall repairs were performed on the original wingwalls. 

Roland Road Traffic Rail Type T402 Retrofit Street Side

Traffic Rail Type T402 Retrofit abutment walls, 7 linear foot Wingwalls, and Pedestrian Rails Type PR11. 100+ year-old historic decorative bridge rails were left in place.  

 

Losoya Street Bridge

Bridge rail, and 12" outside edge of deck was saw cut flush. Outside edge of deck was cast-in-place, and one-off custom rail panels were installed. Original columns were not removed. 

 

Market Street Bridge

One-off custom netting installed to prevent construction debris in San Antonio River and River Walk areas.

 

Market Street Bridge

One-off custom netting, and street side pedestrian control. 

 

Market Street Bridge

Epoxy injection used for small crack repair. Original decorative rails were not removed.  

Market Street and Losoya Street Original Decorative Rail

Original panels were not removed. Star pattern was cast-in-place. Epoxy injection used for small crack repair.
